How do I set reverse DNS for my server IP addresses?

Back

Setting a correct Reverse DNS (sometimes called rDNS, PTR Records or Rev DNS ) is good server admin and for mail servers, often required to ensure deliverability Ideally, your Reverse entry should mirror your Forward Entry - ie: be the mirror of your servers primary A record and hostname. For example: Your server hostname is server1.mydomain.com Your server IP is 1.2.3.4 Your Forward DNS would be an A record pointing server1.mydomain.com to 1.2.3.4 Your Reverse DNS would be a PTR record pointing 1.2.3.4 back to server1.mydomain.com To set this up in the server24 GUI simply click in to the relevant resource pool, click on the server, then on the network Tab. On the sub menu, click on Reverse DNS, and you can enter and edit the settings here. Click Update, and you are done.
