How can I create a cloud instance with a custom sized system/root-disk?

Back

Add Instance Wizard

You can achieve this by using either the API or by logging on to CloudStack and clicking on Instances -> + Add Instance -> Templates + Next -> Root disk size.

Please consider that if the parameter inserted in the "Root disk size" is lower than the minimum size specified in the template (for the visualized CentOS7 template we see an 8GB SYSTEM), the parameter will be ignored and the minimum size used instead.

Also remember that bigger system images can cause sensible longer times for snapshot creation and disk management, so use this feature only when needed. Of course you can add as many data disks as you like after having created the cloud instance and even resize the root-/system-disk thereafter.
